Modern life requires a lot of mental effort, starting as soon as we wake up. Soon after lunch, our brains start to say, "no more!" Unfortunately, resting is the last thing most of us have time to do and so afternoon grogginess plays havoc with our productivity. Thankfully, ancient plants are able to help with this modern problem.

The Plants

Yaupon Holly (Light Roast) - Southern indigenous tribes such as Muscogee Creeks, Cherokees, Choctaws, Ais, Guale, Chickasaws, Chitimacha, and Timucua were the first to grasp the energizing effect of this wild tree. Lost Pines Yaupon, supplies the hand-picked leaves and carefully dried leaves for a lighter herbal flavor but still providing caffeine.

Sage - used by the wisest of ancients, sage tea helps the brain stay focused and energized through mentally challenging tasks by preventing removal of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter required for memory and problem solving.

Peppermint - generally dismissed as just flavoring for candy, the rich chemical makeup of peppermint gives it many powers. It is proven to increase alertness as well as boost cellular energy output. Being delicious is just a wonderful bonus!

Recommended Preparation

Steep 1 tbsp of Afternoon Focus Tea in 8oz of hot (not boiling!) water for 5-10 minutes. Strain out the plant matter and drink 30-60 minutes before your normal afternoon grogginess sets in.

Possible Interactions

The Afternoon Focus Tea should not be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women due to sage, which can alter the female hormonal cycle and also affect the flavor of their milk.
