Drink Coffee, Live Longer
In the previous blog post I revealed part of my plan for living an exceptionally long and healthy life by consumption of the plant compound, berberine. But wait, there's more! Granted, the research on this second method I'm using was focused on women, who have a lot of internal differences from men, but I'm hopeful that it'll help me. Plus, I really love it - morning coffee!
Yep, a 30-year study involving 47,513 women has shown that those that drank 2.5 standard-sized mugs of coffee each day had better mental and physical health than those who didn't drink coffee. The most important discovery of this was that the caffeine in the coffee was the key ingredient BUT if women drank other sources of caffeine, such as tea or soft drinks, no benefits occurred. Same goes with decaffeinated coffee - no benefit.
There's some sort of synergistic effect between the caffeine and other compounds found in coffee. At this time what, other compounds are necessary hasn't been discovered but frankly, I don't care. My morning coffee ritual is a big part of starting my day off right. I'll swallow a capsule of berberine every morning, but don't take my cup of coffee!
A lot of people have the mistaken belief that coffee damages the stomach/GI tract, but this is opposite of the truth. The warm, wonderful drink improves flow of matter through the GI tract, reduces inflammation in it, supports the growth of good gut bacteria, and suppresses bad gut microflora. At the same time, it energizes the brain and improves one's mood. It's the original gut-brain axis support!
Medicine Man Plant Co.
Most of you know I'm a Ph.D. chemist, have 16 patents, blah blah blah. I follow the science, and science is based on measurements. Number don't lie. The same thing holds true in accounting. Income versus spending is crystal clear, as are the decisions those numbers lead to. In the case of Medicine Man Plant Co. over the last year, sales indicate that a big change is needed to alter those numbers to become profitable enough to survive. There are two ways costs could be reduced. One is to lower the qualities of the products, and the other is for me to step down so that my salary can be used to grow the company. The correct choice is obvious - I'm leaving MMPC so that its products can remain the BEST on the market. I love y'all too much to do anything else. Thank you so much for letting me reconnect you to nature, I couldn't have been given a better purpose in life!
