The Foraging Tool Story
Oddly enough, the meeting of Texas-based, pocket tool maker Grim Workshop and Mark "Merriwether" Vorderbruggen, Ph.D. chemist and internationally known foraging expert occurred at the 2022 Georgia Bushcraft Fall Gathering. It was a match destined to occur! Merriwether knew what the tool needed, and Grim Workshop knew how to arrange everything for maximum utility and ease of use. The result is the premier foraging widget! This flat, credit-card sized, high-strength, stainless steel tool contains:
Tweezers – Integrated into the card, perfect to use to remove thorns, and other sharp objects from plants (or yourself).
Scraper - Scrape the outside off of plants to either save, or to expose the inner portions depending on what you need.
Blade - Small cutting tool to help cut sections of plants.
Tick Remover - Ticks happen in the bush.
Mushroom Knife - A V shaped blade with small serrations to help cut fungi.
Ruler - Sometimes it helps to identify specific plants based on their approximate size regarding certain features.
Leaf Strippers - Insert a stem into one of the leaf stripper holes, and pull it through. The card removes all the leaves (also works for berries) from the plant for you.
Saw - Some plants are more robust than others and require a bit more force to harvest.
Berry Harvester - Run this comb shaped tool through berries to help separate them from the plants they come off of easily.
Dimensions - 3 3⁄8 × 2 1⁄8 "
